New Zealand proposes quarantine fees
Some travellers returning to New Zealand will have to pay for their time in quarantine.
Costs will apply to people who chose to leave the country after the charges are imposed and then return, or incoming passengers staying in New Zealand for less than 90 days.
People with temporary visas will also be charged.
New Zealand citizens returning home permanently will avoid any costs.
When the charges come into effect (yet to be confirmed), quarantine will cost NZD $3100.00 for the first adult per room, $950.00 for every additional adult and $475.00 for each child sharing the same room.
Those who cannot afford the fees may apply for waivers.
The changes should come into effect prior to the (pre election) dissolution of Parliament on 12 August, 2020. We'll keep this article updated as developments come to hand.
