When the Clyde Dam was completed in 1990, the main street of Old Cromwell Town was totally submerged under Lake Dunstan. What remains is a step back to the Central Otago Gold Rush.  Old stone stores and industrial buildings have been lovingly restored and now house cafes, galleries and gift stores.
