The company offers cruises in Milford Sound and Queenstown with seamless coach and flight connections, as well as cycling, kayaking, underwater observatory, farm experience and coach trip inclusions. The company also specialises in private charters and conference and incentive packages.
Southern Discoveries operates four vessels at Milford Sound ranging in capacity from 35 to 400 passengers, and offers the widest range of trips and experiences in the fiord. The company operates Scenic Cruises, Encounter Nature Cruises, Nature Cruises, Milford Sound Cruise & Kayak Milford and Discover More packages which incorporates a visit to the Milford Sound Underwater Observatory with lunch.
Southern Discoveries operates two vessels and two cruises on Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown, Queenstown Lake Cruises and Queenstown Scenic Cruises. The Queenstown Scenic Cruise sails to Mt Nicholas High Country Farm where visitors can choose to add a specialised excursion to their cruise. Excursions include the Mt Nicholas Farm Experience, a small group trip where guests meet working farm animals and take a four-wheel-drive tour to spectacular vantage points. Newly introduced is the Station 2 Station Cycle Trail, a half-day cycling trip between Mt Nicholas and Walter Peak.
Southern Discoveries owns and operates Discover Milford Sound Information Centre and Café in Milford, three information centres in Te Anau and Queenstown, and Te Anau-based coach service Go Milford Day Trip. The company also promotes KJet, Queenstown's original jet boat operator.
Southern Discoveries run its own coach services from Queenstown and Te Anau providing a seamless connection linking year-round with Milford Sound cruises. The new, purpose-built, low-emission coaches will have extra-wide glass roofs, free WIFI and USB ports for charging devices, and operate Scenic Cruises and Nature Cruises from October and coming November 2018 will offer Coach connections to Milford Sound Cruise & Kayak. Coach/coach and coach/fly options are available.
The company’s ongoing commitment to conservation is through the Sinbad Sanctuary Project in conjunction with the Fiordland Conservation Trust and Department of Conservation.
